How the webAI App Works, in Under Three Minutes

October 13, 2026

The webAI product team is launching a new video series to show what the webAI app looks like in everyday work. This first video is a short tour: what the app is, how its main pieces fit together, and where to start.

Throughout the series, we follow a fictional character named Maya, who owns a fictional catering company in Austin. Her business is growing, and she needs to answer clients quickly and accurately while keeping her small team in sync. This video stays at the overview level, but the work on screen is hers: her Personas, her operations playbook, and her team's shared Space. (Please note that UI and other features are subject to change.)

A walkthrough of the webAI app. Build with AI personas, create artifacts, and collaborate with your team in shared Spaces, all while everything stays on-device.

Your personal AI platform, on your own computer

webAI is your personal AI platform: a workspace on your own computer, built for collaborative intelligence. The app runs AI models locally, so the thinking happens on your machine and your prompts and outputs stay private.

It's also designed for more than chat. Four building blocks do most of the work.

The building blocks

Personas: specialists with a job. A Persona is an expert you create for a specific role, built from your instructions and documents. Maya's Operations Manager, for example, knows her standing rules and turns booked events into clear tasks. Each Persona answers from its own material, with citations you can check.

Skills: abilities you build once. Skills extend what a Persona can do. Write instructions for a format, a process, or a task you repeat, and your Personas can put them to use, so a good process becomes a repeatable one.

Scheduled tasks: work that's ready when you are. Give a Persona a task and a schedule, and it runs that work on its own. In the video, Maya sets her Growth Strategist to research new catering businesses in her area every week.

Spaces: shared context for your team. A Space is a shared workspace where you invite colleagues to work on a project together. When one person adds a key document or shares a Persona, everyone in the Space can build on it instead of starting from scratch. Maya asks her team's Space about a vendor's availability and gets an answer drawn from shared documents, with the sources attached.

Spaces run on webAI's Intelligence Delivery Network, which shares knowledge and compute across a team without a data center in the middle.

Go deeper

The next two videos take a closer look. In How to Build a Team of AI Specialists with Personas, Maya builds her team of Personas. In How to Bring Your People and AI Together with Spaces, she brings that team together with her people in Spaces.
