Are people losing the capacity to think for themselves? David Stout thinks so. As more of how we work and think runs through general-purpose AI, he argues, we risk giving away the very thing that makes each of us distinct.
Those models are built from the whole internet, and they carry its assumptions with them. Lean on them heavily, and your work starts to look like everyone else's. "One of the worst things that you could do to a civilization would be to flatten the intelligence," David says.
At webAI, we're building toward a different relationship with AI: one you think with, instead of one that thinks for you. Much of the knowledge that makes you, your team, or your business distinct isn't on the internet at all. We believe intelligence should be shaped by that knowledge, run on your own devices, and work alongside other specialized models, the way players on a team each bring something different to the game. We call it a civilization of experts.
In this video, David Stout (CEO and co-founder), Tyler Mauer (CPO and co-founder), and Dr. Paul J. “PJ” Maykish (Chief Intelligence Officer) talk about what's at stake as AI reshapes how people think, and how the webAI app and its Personas bring that vision to life.
As David puts it at the close: "Don't give that away. Own that and value it and protect it."
